Same here big damned goose-egg. Saw lots of doe bow-season one spike then they turned off the switch. saw two doe in ten hunts. Upshur co. Maybe muzzleloading season will be better

Wife has been skunked so far, but got a exotic hunt for her lined up in the next few months. I got three does but no buck.
Might go out with the muzzle loader and see if i see anything.

i only saw 2 deer and 3 hogs in 17 hunting periods on stand and never pulled the trigger!!!!!!!

This was the worst year I have EVER had...I normally doe hunt and wait out a big buck....I have only pulled the trigger on 1 buck in 9 years on Ft Hood, but have always had doe meat in the freezer...this year when they wouldn't let us shoot does on Ft Hood, it screwed me and alot of other meat hunters...

I got skunked, but it was my own fault. I waited to late to shoot a doe and missed out on our short doe season.
Next year though, with doe permits in hand and AR's in place (2nd year) I am almost positive that I will put some meat in the freezer.
I still had a fantastic time in the woods with family and friends and wouldnt change the past for anything. Meat or no meat, Im in it for the adventure.

Curly - First year on the lease. Good area, however I prefer hunting minimum 4.5 year old deer. Most of the guys on this lease are going to bring home the venison. They don't shoot anything that moves, but if it has some size or age at all, it's ground checked. Great guys and wonderful land owner as well as a pretty good camp house. I didn't see anything past 3.5 years so...no shots fired.

Is shooting any and all deer that the TP&W states as legal and allows you to harvest considered shooting anything that moves? I think most folks think so. I myself don't. I think as long as you follow the rules they set since they want to "help the deer herds", that you are playing it smart by shooting what they allow you to. Of course this is coming from an old school, East Texas "meat" hunter that has nearly always seen deer and brought home venison, who has seen the numbers of deer I've seen decline in the past 3 years and one who thought we were fine before ARs but this wasn't meant to be an AR bash thread, I PROMISE......LOL.

first year i put out feeders and hunted a real "stand" not just brush blinds by trails and saw one decent buck on the niegbors place but none on my during daylight hours. Had deer by the dozen at night on camera but none during shooting hours .

I shot one doe this year, and got another one for the freezer for free. Two deer in the freezer...not too bad.

Not a thing for me deer wise. Went to my lease (Haskell County) 7 times all through out the season and not one deer was seen. Not only by me, but the other hunters as well. Will be looking for a new place. Very few hogs even seen, which is a shocker.

Although I went out many times, I never fired a shot at a deer in Texas...but I took a really nice mule deer in New Mexico.

Where are the reports of deer carcuses (i.e.50-65%).....that is a LOT of drought dead deer. Recon more folks would stumble across a carcus or two huh?

i hunted four days this year. two at one lease and two at another. the one near junction i didn't get anything but the one on the navasota river i did shot a spike close to the end of regular season.

I think I hunted about 40 days in four counties... only Foard County showed decent numbers of deer... Archer was one trip and mediocre to poor compared to normal... Fannin was slow but that's expected and Red River....did not see a living deer in about 10 days there...
I think its increase bag limits that were sent along with AR's to silence the masses that thought AR's Suck...

I missed the same buck three times this year. Yesterday, I sent my trusty 20 year old Lueopold Gold Ring back to the factory.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.
