I hear what your saying and I agree, post the whole pile. I've taking pics of an 8 man limit of teal on two straps. Is it wrong, yes, but for a simple pic I think it's fine. Not sure I'd post in a public place but that's just my opinion. Now, in the case of yesterday where a guys says he shot a limit, makes no mention of a partner then posts a pic with 4 woodies, I don't believe it's un-called for to ask if he knows you are only allowed 3. If nothing else, the guy may not know and you may be doing him a favor by making him aware. If you do it nicely that is. If he takes it wrong, that's his problem. Now, if you're just there to bash on the guy with no knowledge of the situation, that is wrong. I think you have to take all this with a little expectation that this is a public forum with many opinions. Not everyone thinks alike and you put a post up there will be many variances in response. Everyone just needs to get a little thicker skin around here.

This is why they Make the Waterfowl Digest! So You can know the laws and Follow them. Ultimatly it is the Responsability of the shooter To know what he is shooting at (and the laws). If they decide to post pics with a story that incriminates there self....They should expect some bashing.

I agree. This was the basis of my request we get some duck ID info put on here so guys can find a place to ID ducks before making incriminating posts. The info is out there.

and let's say you do make a mistake while out hunting, I have before. You should at least know that it was a mistake and not be in such a hurry to post up a picture that makes you look like an azz.

Even seasoned vets make mistakes. Low light, things happening fast, mixed species in a flock, it happens. But once the bird is in hand, you should be able to identify. There are hybrids and mutations but they are not the norm.

As far as my local GW, I would have had no problem driving these ducks to him to identify. You know why? Two reasons.

1. I knew I only had 4 ducks and none were the same. The law says I can have one of anything.
2. Had I shot an illegal bird (which there is no way to as long as you have only one of each species) I would want the GW to tell me, not you internet duck nazi's!

Here's an example. A loooooong time ago I shot what I though was a young doe at about 150 yards. When I got to the deer, I realized it was a button buck. Now, I had already used my buck tag and I was only allowed one. So, I called my GW. He said tag it as a doe. You know what I said, come look at it and make sure because I don't want any trouble and if I screwed up then fine.

As far as Id'ing in flight vs. hand, you guys better practice up. I can determine in air if I already have that particular species in hand and apparantley you fellas can't. I would much rather be in my shoes than yours. If you wait to identify in hand your too late and have already broken the law. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Simmer down Jasb...he's worried because he REALLY DOES have to watch his limits...the rest of us have FRIENDS to hunt with, we can afford to make a little booboo every now and then. When you hunt alone there's no margin for error.
