A group of my buddies went deer hunting this past weekend and paired off in twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck.

"Where's Henry?" the others asked.

"Henry had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the trail," the successful hunter replied.

"You left Henry laying out there and carried the deer back?" they inquired.

"A tough call," nodded the hunter. "But I figured no one is going to steal Henry!"

That story would almost be believable if the buck was a spike. East Texas & 8 point is just too great a stretch.

i guess anyone who hunts in an area that has more than 4 deer per square mile just isn't a real hunter.

Damn you TPWD for your deer stocking efforts, making it too easy for us!

i hunted east texas for 4 years....we killed nice deer every year. saw deer every time I hunted.

don't know why thats the first thing people say about hunting east texas, that its somehow harder or more challenging?

thats a load of b.s, and the pics of some of the guys with the deer they shoot prove that.

I'm glad you don't hunt East Texas...
That leaves the big bucks for me to shoot! "LOL"

I don't think East Texas bucks are that small...

Here's my latest bow kill (Wood County)

Easy now. I mentioned East Texas only because that's where I hunt.

But I agree with you. Once those East Texas deer know you're after them, being able to bring one home can separate the men from the boys.

Good looking wall!! I like East Texas, too. Taken some nice deer out that way. Is that a crown on the cooler in the foreground? You're not secretly the Burger King, are you?
