Duck hunters are a different breed, lol. In all seriousness, the fact is we hunt protected species and when that protection is violated, hunters get their feather ruffled. No pun intended. It's about resource management and if we want to be able to continue to enjoy harvesting these birds, we have to adhere to the rules.

If you keep your hair short and your mouth shut, things tend to run a lot smoother.

easy there Reds. You need to spend a little less time at the buffet line and more at ducks.org. or reading a Waterfowl I.D. book.

There is zero doubt in my mind that you had 2 shooters and had no idea what the hell you were shooting at. So, don't come on here saying "I don't break laws". Let's pretend for a second that you had an alleged grassy knoll shooter to keep you from being over the limit, and that you guys somehow only killed 2 pintails on the coast. If another flight of 4 "goldeneyes" had come flying in feet down, you 3 would have unloaded right?

I think a few people need to lighten up a little in this section. In my opinion, there’s a big difference between poaching, intentionally breaking the law and misidentifying a duck. The fine you are likely to get by posting on the Internet is punishment enough.

How many people can HONESTLY say that they never shot a bird that was included in their hunting partners limit? You ever been dove hunting where one guy shot five extra birds because his partner couldn’t fill a limit? Have you ever shot two of a duck species where you could only down one bird and added it to your partners open bag limit? If your answer is yes to any of these, than you are equally guilty of breaking the law. In other words, don’t cast stones from a glass house.

Our forums were not built on the idea that hazing was to be a major part of the format. I prefer to see cool people helping each other out. Duck hunting is a learning curve. I know a bunch of people on this forum who have been hunting ducks for 4 or 5 years and run around screaming about Barnie all the time. Conversely, I know veterans who have been duck hunting 20-35 years who are nothing but helpful.

If you enjoy the “I'm a baddazz and all the rest of you wish you were me” mentality, there are plenty of forums on the Internet that promote that atmosphere. I want this place to be about hunters sticking together and supporting and helping each other – I want the THF to have a friendly atmosphere. A little hazing is OK, but there is too much going on in this section right now.

There are a few older members who have fallen in to a bad routine. Please lighten up a little. It is the regular members who set the tone for everyone else. Please help us by not being so quick to pounce on people who get it wrong or make a mistake.
