IMO, Better off getting a DWADER you may have a long blind to send her on and she might not ever get past the decoys.

Guy, I never let Charlie pick up the dekes until one got away from me last year. I sent her on her line and she brought right back to me. I thought that was great until she brought me a deke instead of a dead duck this season. Just be careful.

Oh I could have got the deeks myself, we were just having fun with it!!

I don't think she will, but if she does, it wont be the end of the world, and if she does, I bet she will not do it twice. If is does happen twice, I will stop. Untill then, we are going to have fun with it, she likes to help!

It is pretty nice to sit back and let the dog get some extra retreives even if it is on dekes. I still do sometimes if I don't have alot of action during the hunt. Charlie will just look at me that face like why the heck did we get up at 2:00am?

I don�t think you should do it with a young dog, it would confuse them. But Molly knows the difference. I�m using the �decoy� command like WAL1809 used with his dog, and she really picked up on it. This is my second time to do this, and my first time using the �decoy� command. I�m not using �Molly�, or �Back� or �Fetch�, using �Decoy�. She also knows when I start picking up the deeks, the hunt is over, and we are just playing around�

I have used my labs with decoys. I don't make it a habit but it has been nice when the decoy is in water over the top of my waders. I agree, the purist would not want to do it, but then some of the best of duck hunting is all about time with the dog. To each his own!

Dogs are made for work. Forget what everyone else says, it's your dog and she does what you want her to do. Sounds to me like she knows the difference and a truly good dog will. I love it.

I need a dog to pick up all the dekes.... drive me home, make me brunch, get me cold beer, and wake me up when there are ducks in the air.
