I was certain this bad boy was gonna taste perty bad. My buddy didnt want to mess with it and told me to leave it lay. I cleaned it an cooked the quarters on a smoker and it turned out great. Fed it to a bunch of folks and everyone commented on how good it tasted.

I have found though that most boars that we have cught and killed with dogs have been pretty rank. They tasted extremely gamey. I beleive it is because the testerone has been pumped though their body and their blood was pumping.

X2 cool

I'm gonna say the watermark for a "trophy" hog in Texas is 300lbs.

According to many of the states hunting ranches I found claim any hog over 100lbs is a trophy! LMAO, because they start charging you $1 a pound trophy fee for anything over 100. I was looking for a place to take a farmer friend of mine from Iowa on a hog hunt but at there prices to kill a pig he will have to wait. I aint paying that much to do a ranch a favor.

+1... killed a bunch of hog's, but when I got a 350lb boar with 4 in cutters, he got sent to the taxi for a shoulder mount.

I enjoy shooting them & shoot everyone that I see. (my biggest was just under 200 - can't really say that it's a trophy)

Guys I hunt w/ would tell you that the only hog that qualifies as a trophy would be the last one standing on the property.

Any hog I come out of the woods with is a trophy to me!For me it isnt about the tusks or antlers, but about the experience!

A trophy is in the eye of the beholder.. One guy's trophy might be your 'throwback'! Don't let others set your standards.
