I went by my local gun shop yesterday, looking for some winchokes for my son shotgun. we started talking about the new Beretta XTREMA 3 that comes out next month. By luck, he just got one in for demonstration solid walnut stock with 28in barrel, come to find out Beretta made 2000 of them and send them out to there main dealers to show before they release them next month. I fell for it, its very light like a S&W model 1000’s, very well balance, fits just right like your 20 year old baseball glove does and the new kick-off 3 system has a hydraulic cylinder located in the stock that attaches to the existing kick-off system tripling the recoil system. No other shotgun in the world has this technology. For my understanding there is hardly no recoil!!!. I wish I could fired off a few 3.5 rounds cry. the cost is around $1,650, Also the Waterfowl style will hopefully come out this summer/fall. Was going to buy a Browning Maxus this Xmas. But I will definitely what for the new waterfowl Beretta A400 XPLOR UNICO (AKA-XTREMA3) which should be cheaper than the walnut stylebanana.

I think the XPLOR is a completely new gun, not an Extrema 3.

It is my understanding they will continue to make the Extrema.

x2... I just got the maxus... I called every berreta dealer I could find and no one could tell me when the xplor was coming in. Hell i even talked to a rep. i think it will be a hell of a gun. But don't know if the 1600 price tag is worth it, When you can get a maxus for $300-$400 cheaper

Hayraker: you might be right, I think this gun replaces the xtrema. But the guts are the same as the xtrema. They just did one hell of a up grade.

Not to start a p!$$in match but does anyone really feel recoil... I am so focused and pumped up when the birds are working that I dont feel a thing... and I shoot 3.5.

yea it's supposed to be a bad b!tch. I thought my X2 was light and the Xplor is supposed to be a pound lighter and have even less recoil.

I am kinda with nogeese, the only time I really notice recoil is on the sporting clay course. Otherwise I am so amped up I don't notice. I just switched to the Benelli M2 from a BPS this year and I do notice my shoulder doesn't hurt after the hunt. I really like the look and feel of the Berretta's but alas Beretta refers you to Benelli for a left handed model. I haven't put my hands on one but the Maxus looks really nice.

Extrema 3,4,5,6,whatever.

It's still not a Benelli.

I will pass on the gas operation.

It's more about feeling the recoil the next day or not.

feeling the recoil is not the issue, it's not about pain or how tough you are, being a pansy, hurting the next day, etc.

It's about target acquisition after firing a round. The less recoil, the easier it is to take better second and third shots.

To me, reliability is by far the most important factor.

I have submerged my Benelli twice and shot it all day.

Benelli is just like Glock, as soon as the patent on the action expired, it got copied.

Have yet to see a Beretta knock off.

Don't get me wrong, the coolest gun I have is a Beretta Silver Pigeon. But for waterfowl hunting, the Super Black Eagle is the Rolls Royce and it always will be.

actually, the Extrema is a knock off, a much improved knock off.

It is a 912 VS Franchi built with better material and craftmanship.

They took Franchi's gas system and Franchi became a budget gun like Stoeger.

If you look at the operating system of an Extrema, a 912, or a 612 (what I shoot), you will see that they are simple and pretty bullet proof. It is not the complicated system of a 391 or 390.

The difference in recoil of one semi auto to the next really won't be a factor with 95% of hunters. As for target acquisition...going from a pump to a semi auto yeah there will be a difference but again the semi to semi match up would not IMO be a big enough difference to make you miss a shot with one that you would have had with the other. Way to many factors going on. A lot of this recoil stuff is mental...when I'm hunting I don't feel anything...when I just shoot a 3.5" at a pattern board then I do.

Anyway the explorer or whatever they are calling it sounds like a great gun and I would like to learn more about it. But selling me on less felt recoil isnt going to raise my eye brow.

As for comparing it to a maxus...I would not let $300 or whatever price difference stop me from getting the berretta if I thougth that was the better gun. $300 to me after 10 years plus of use means nothing...getting the gun I really want means everything.

As it is I'm still happy with my SBEII but I'm telling all you SBEII fans the second something better comes along I'm going to be on it. Well maybe a year after something better comes along. Oh and I'm not saying SBEII is the best waterfowling gun....just the best one for me.

recoil isn't a big matter for me either. I only have the gun I do because of pure luck. But what I do like about the Xplor is the weight. At 6.6 lbs. you could carry that thing all day long no problem. I've figured out recently that I shoot my X2 better without a sling on it, but sometimes even that gun can wear you out when carrying. or standing there with nothing to lean it on.

Thats why I got a way from 12 ga semi's for a while way to heavy, but anything under 7 lbs isn't to bad. I wanted the xplor but no one can say when they are coming out so got the maxus 6.10

The Xplors should be getting out now, but they won't have a waterfowl version until late next summer/fall.

This is the first time I have heard the A400 called an Xtrema 3. I thought it was the Xplor UNICO A400.

It looks and sounds like a winner. Should be able to get a good deal on some used SBE II's and Xtrema 2's pretty soon.

Hey Benelli Boys!

Who do you think owns Benelli......Beretta Does....

Beretta had the 1200 which was a recoil/interia operated
http://www.berettaweb.com/semi%20auto%20shotgun/1200.htm

Beretta ES100

Notes: This semiautomatic shotgun was introduced in 1999. It uses recoil operation and uses the older falling block locking of Beretta’s 1200 models. The standard gun has a walnut stock and fore-end; the Slug model has either a walnut or plastic stock and fore-end. The Camo Hardwoods and Camo Wetlands models have overprinting and synthetic stocks and fore-ends. The standard gun has barrels of 24, 26 or 28-inch barrels; the Slug version has a 24-inch barrel; and the Camo versions have 28 or 30-inch barrels. These shotguns have sighting ribs, except for the Slug gun, which has rifle-type sights.

I love my Beretta 391 but I use a Benelli Vinci (12ga) or Benelli Cordoba (20ga)for ducks!

I have a berreta 390, 10yrs old, best gun ever. So I bought a berretta xtrema2. Hate it. If you don't like cleaning your gun after ever use don't get the xtrema. It doesn't have the power to cycle shells if everthing isn't slick up perfect. Maybe it's just mine. Too many parts, plastic and nooks and cranies to clean. They just don't make them like they use too.

wtf? I've had mine for going on 3 seasons now and only really cleaned it once a few weeks ago. I didn't have to I just thought maybe I should. I dropped it in brackish water in NM last year and never even cleaned it after that.

It's not a uncommon problem, xtremma2 has a history??? of this happening. I have the gun to prove it. If anyone wants a extrema2 for 900 bucks bring it on. I paid 1090.00 with the deals on bass pro 3yrs ago.
