In my experience, if a guy's turnaround isn't LONGER than 6-9 months, he's probably not worth going to. All of the quality taxidermies have a long list of business, and many repeats.
Expect to pay $400 or more for a good mount. It's worth every penny. What he said

Sounds like everyone has their own opinions. With that being said I think it does come down to price. Those of you out there that can afford a 600-700 dollar mount great. Those of you who can't get what you can afford and everyone be apprreciative that you had the opportunity to shoot a shoulder mount worthy deer.

I'd go to Sully's taxidermist. They look good to me.

A mount is something you are going to look at for the rest of your life. In my view, it's worth paying a little extra and making the effort to take care of it and get it to whoever you want to do it. The little bit of money you save by taking it somewhere closer or less expensive, will be forgotten if it turns out bad. And you'll be reminded of it every time you look at it.
I bring my stuff to Flagg Group in Dallas. They have been around a long time and I like their work. I think their whitetail shoulder mounts are inexpensive because they do so many of them that it's essentially a production line, so they can keep the cost down. I also like being able to take it back if something happens to it. They did some excellent repair work on a mallard drake my dog got to.

I use Safari Studios in San Angelo as well. The best I have seen.
