They don't bother the deer at all at my place, I see deer and cows in the same area at the same time. Actually had 2 cows eating right along with about 25 turkey on thanksgiving I figured that is something I would never see. I think all wildlife gets use to each other sooner or later.

I don't think there is an absolute either way. I have noticed that if you introduce cattle to an area where deer are, the deer will vanish for a while until they get used to them.
Flip side, I shot a doe last Saturday morning with a cow standing not 20 yards from her. Neither was concerned about the other...

Cattle have been the cause of many ruined hunts on my place. 2nd weekend this year have 2 hefers come down one of the roads I was hunting and it was still very dark outside. Figured if I get out and run em off I could scare the deer away but if I let em be, nothing would come anyways. Got out, run em off and few minutes after i got back in my stand...out come the deer.
The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.

Deer always leave when the cows show up at our place. I've never seen an exception, either in person or on a game camera.

Fortunately, my land is easily divided into upper and lower pastures. Plan is to just put the cattle in one or the other when I arrive, depending on which I'm planning to hunt.
Could actually concentrate the deer more at my feeder when they're driven away from the other one by the presence of cows.

We leased our place for cattle this year with the understanding they would be off by Nov 1st. Well, the wet October hurt that idea so I hunted over a very large amount of cows/calves for the amount of land we have.
I had positives and negatives.
The negatives were:
The cows around the feeders and them running the deer off.
The cows moving around made it a bit tough to see the deer. I'm good at seeing movement at very long distances, but with so many cows/calves roaming around it got difficult.
My food plots were wiped out.
There were positives:
We made some money.
Some fences got fixed that we didn't know needing fixing.
The cows were actually a pretty good diversion at times. I'd have deer at the feeder and cows 50 yards away. The deer paid attention to the cows and never knew I was there.
The cows got rid of a ton of brush. I think it was more trampled than eaten, but it's alot easier to see wildlife now.
Also, I think alot of it has to do with your neighbors. In your case, with the way your doing it, I doubt you'll have a problem at all. On 40 acres, if you can keep them out of your hunting area (at least through the season), you're going to be fine. The deer don't know where your property line begins and the other ends. They're used to cows based on your neighbors and having them in your pasture won't make a difference at all.

I think KennyLee nailed it. I think you will notice the environmental impact on foliage and therefore drainage and erosion before you will notice cattle running off the deer, particuarly since you are running 10 head on 40 acres.

I keep a slingshot and a bag of marbles in my blind. If the cows showup, a couple of well placed rump shots move them along.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

Hate cows! Hate Goats! Hate Sheep! Hate Horses! Hate rogue country dogs/pets! The deer on our place are absent when any of these are around. I wish they didn't mind them but they do.

Cows actually help your hunting. I hunt wheat fields quite a bit. I like to keep the cattle close by just in case a nice buck comes out that's a little far out of my range. I'll carry a bucket of cotton seed with me and use it to get the cattle to walk in the direction of the deer in order for me to get in range. You can walk right next to a cow and the deer will never see you. Same with a tractor. Cows make a good gun rest to as long as their not too tall. However, you don't want to try this unless the cow is tame.

I pretty sure if there was a poll that asked do you want cows on your lease or had the option to have them no one would answer yes. I've had cows on most leases I have been on and I think cows affect the deers movement. Most of my stands have been back in the woods not in an open pasture and if I had cows around I would not see deer.

Our lease is divided into two pastures with two different groups running cattle. In the west pasture the cows are well fed by the rancher. In the east pasture the cows are left to live off the land with no supplemental feed. The east pasture cows are constantly tearing up the feed pens while in the west pasture the cows could care less about the corn and the deer are much more able to linger at the pen.

Not big (40 acres). Not going to be many head, and I'll probably throw hog panels up around my feeders. After this you said you would probably fence the cows out of the area you hunt. I'm not sure if that is in addition to the hog panels or they are one and the same. A word of caution. Cows can and will jump hog panels. Particularily if you have a protein feeder. I've seen them do it and I've also seen that they have been inside the pens when I didn't actually see them jump the hog panel. Consider cattle panels. The 16 foot long jobs that are 52 inches high.

Our deer have never cared much about the cows. Seen them many times feeding on the same field just feet apart form each other. Deer do get used to cattle and if they see them all the time, cattle are just another grazing animal to them.
