I purchased a new Marlin 336 after looking for a good deal on a used gun. A week later I found a good deal on a used 336. I still need to take them to the range but I am waiting for my new scope before taking them out. I always wanted a 30-30 and now I have two.

I have a Denver Redfield 4x on my 39 year old 336, and it holds close to an inch at 100 off a rest. For the last year and a half, I've used nothing but the LeverEvolutions. Made my .30-03 a whole new animal. Well, not really a new animal, but the same animal, just 100 yds further out. And it is darn ugly - to whatever is standing in front of it when it goes boom. To me, that's purty as heck! :-)

To me, the lever guns with the straight english style stock is too classic of a look to mount a scope. But for my 336, it already is not so classic looking because of the modern stock design and safety.
