SUCK SUCK and more SUCK. Thought today was going to be the best of the season with temps in the 40s and a 17 mph north wind. One teal landed in the dekes 5 minutes after LST.

Then we saw about 5 other groups of birds. They wouldn't decoy for crap. Don't know what the hell was going on. We picked up and moved at 8am and it was more of the same until 10. Didn't see the numbers we should have

Ended up with one GWT and a widgeon hen (not pictured).



But the best news of the day came when scouting after the hunt and we happened upon this Great Horned Owl that some freaking idiot shot. One spent dove load under the tree he was hanging in.

Damn shame.

No, I did not. I prob should have, never have had to before and because of that reason I didn't. I was already on thin ice with the old lady and if I had to hang around there for another 30 min to an hour for a GW my arse would not get to go hunting on Wednesday.

There probably riding the north wind as long as possible...I would think tomorrow and wed should be better...but who knows..

Why would I want to delete this post? If a GW wants to contact me they can. Last time I checked this was America, if someone wants to ask me a question they are welcome to do so. The owl is not on his person. It is a shame, and gives all hunters a bad name. The event that you are all concerned with, the owl was hit by a truck.

Then pictures were taking and the owl was removed from the grill, and placed on the truck for even more pictures.

If it was in fact a dove load, what duck hunter in his right mind is carrying lead? Which maybe a stupid question, since the same person killed and owl for no reason.

Dang man, I hate to hear that both on the hunting and the owl.

Thanks for the ideas on the duck, I ate them tonite and they were good. I was actually thinking they wouldn't because all the stories but they were quite tasty. I used the Stubb's Pork marinade and grilled them and was careful to not over cook it and I wouldn't hesitate to eat them again. I also threw 2 jalapeno's on the grill with them and sliced them up and ate them too. Good GRUB!

he is talking about a guy that got in serious trouble after his vehicle struck an owl and killed it- then the moron put it on his vehicle and took pics of it. Got in a lot of trouble

no way they can prove he killed the owl. all he did was take a picture of it. had he handled the owl that would be something else. all they would come to see him about would be to ask where the bird is.

Originally the Owl showed up in a Thread that referred to it as a "Bonus Bird" then as the heat started building the Owl in the grill pictures surface, then the "Bonus Bird" pictures disappeared and the Feds showed up.
