Anyone know? We've got sika free ranging our ranch. Guy shot one last weekend and I was wondering if it was something decently edible?

i shot one along time ago...the meat wasn't bad. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, if its a bull thats rutting.
I liked it more than fallow (yuck!) or blackbuck
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

The importance of good tasting deer meat lies more with the meat preparation then with the specie of deer. Any meat can taste good if cooked correctly. I had sika before and it was better then whitetail.

I like em', they have very dark meat resembling elk. A little different flavor than whitetail but still very good.

That's something I'd never thought would be said here. Now I got the itch for one.

Good to hear, I have one on my list for the first week in December. Someone said that they are better when they are not rutting, but I guess that would not be a problem shooting a doe (cow?).
Would they make a good rug/wall hanging?
