Found a Leatherman tool at Tawakoni but then lost a waterproof Nikon Camera, at Sam Houston. The Camera was in a leather pouch so if found it would be good even if it rained and got wet.

When I was a kid me and a buddy of mine were out running around in some neighbors' land around Robert Lee, TX and found a natural spring. I was just a big crack in the ground and the water was crystal clear and ice cold. It was a good spot to have a drink! It was so out of place out in the middle of nowhere, with no creeks or other streams remotely close. Just a tiny oasis.

One time at Sam Houston, I found a leather pouch with a waterproof Nikon Camera in it! roflmao Kidding!

Your post reminded me that I once lost a leatherman at the ranch doing some work, and ended up finding it 9 months later! Had to do some serious cleaning, but it looks good as new now.

At my family ranch in Carrizo Springs, I was walking around looking for arrowheads when I saw a bit of metal sticking out of the ground. After a minute of unearthing it, it turned out to be a solid one piece forged hammer that was most likely my great grandfathers (will look for pics of it). Obviously, I named it Thor! It is a beast of a hammer. My buddy lost it at our ranch the next year, but it too was found 6-9 months later.

Found tons of arrowheads and other native American tools, petrified wood, etc.

Once at our ranch (near the border) I found some US bills and Mexican peso bills. Went to pick them up and they crumbled. Always wondered the story on that. Was it just dropped? Or did someone not make it? eeks333

My buddy and I heard singing and couldn't figure it out but thought our hunt was probably over since it was so loud.

Found 5-6 drunk sorority girls in a UTV drinking Boone's farm just off the county road that borders his ranch. I know what you're thinking...

We were both already married.

That is a great find!

I found a Johnson 7 hp outboard leaned up against a tree in the Sam Houston National Forest. No boat, gas can, or hell even water. But, a perfectly serviceable (after carb rebuild and lower unit flush) little outboard motor!

Not as great a find as some of you but in 1977 in my second year of coaching and I got a job at Hot Springs, Ark. I ended my lease and was going to move there in June. Well this is a resort city and I could not find a place that I could afford. So I got a hotel room and decided to go fishing on Lake Ouachita. My second day there nature called and I pulled into a cove on an island to take care of business. I walked up well into the trees and found an old hunting camp with a fire ring, boards making a table, and "chairs" made of scrape wood nailed to the trees. Since the dam was finished in 1953 I figure the place had not been visited since the water came up. Light went on and I went to town and got a tent, cot, lantern, Coleman stove and ice chest. I would get up at 5:30 drive to the marina in my boat, jump in the car, drive to school, shower and coach. At the end of the day I would head for my island for some peace and quiet. I lived on that island until October when it started getting too cold on the boat ride in. May have to take a trip up there to see if the camp is still there.

We were bowhunting Javelinas in the Arizona desert decades ago when we stopped and sat down for lunch. My brother saw a round thing in the ground...looked like a rock, but he started messing with it and turned out to be an old Indian bowl buried upside down in the sand.
Also bowhunting the mountains of Montana, friend sat down next to a tree, saw some chain so started pulliing it out of the dirt/pine needles...the end of it had a US Govt Grizzly trap attached...still set! He came back with a hack saw to remove it because it had a lock...cool find.

I've probably told this at some point. I used to hunt and fish near the town of 'Wizard wells' in Jack county. This area was hit hard by Comanche depredations. The early settlers cabins were burned out but chimneys remained. I took a metal detector out there and found a cast iron long handled spoon about a foot under the dirt next to a chimney. It was stamped, U S. We've researched and found it was issued by the cavalry stationed at Fort Richardson in Jacksboro. We figure someone eating beans got sleepy and dropped the spoon, or, during an Indian raid, left the spoon there. Its one of my best finds. Arrowheads a close second.
