Well, if there is a scraggly spike and a big buck, you better shoot the spike just to prove you are a meat hunter and not a horn hunter. I wouldn't want you to come off as a HORN hunter!

I might proclaim myself to be a meat hunter but I ain't no stupid hunter....in that were the case case, the big one is old and past his prime, the spike, although tender, needs to live and grow and I would get more meat off the older one. up

hadn't hunted THAT one in years....and those deer could easily escape.

now can only hunt roughly that much acreage spread between 3 counties..... but for the record, will be hunting a 300 acre property on opening weekend. up

I agree with this, but what is you have someone next to you that doesn't feel the same. Owns 20 acres, has 8 kids and they all shoot their limits. You could get screwed without some sort of government regulation. They don't care is the deer is a fawn with spots, a deer is a deer.

I see it in our area, one place close to us is some out of the area owner, starting in opening weekend it sounds like a war zone. 160 acres, and over this coming weekend I can almost bet there will be at least 10 deer killed. But it will take at least 30 or 40 shots, but more likely 60 or 70. The best part is their racket and hell raising gives us some nice deer to shoot at for the next 2 to 3 weeks. I am an hour away, retired and go when I want. And the clowns won't be back until Thanksgiving.

But that can happen now! Even easeir than it was before AR's! AR's let them kill more!
