Ok, so I have a great IWB holster and gun. So we are good there. But, I have a full size 1911 that I want to be able to carry as well. Obviously that big boy isn't going IWB lol. So before I order my holster, I want to figure out the way that I carry it. My gut tells me that I want to get the clip that goes on the belt so that I can take it on and off as need be in the establishments that don't approve open carry. Other option is a paddle, or belt loops. This will be a kydex holster. But I just cant decide on the way it mounts. Any and all help is appreciated.

I've got a fobus paddle holster and not a huge fan because it's not that comfortable and seems to ride way to high at times.

Look at Safariland level II kydex holsters. I've got several and really like them. They're a few bucks more but well worth it.

My issue usually on my gun ends up being that its a full size sig 1911 with a rail. Not everyone makes a holster for that gun. But my main concern here is how am I carrying it. Close to the body with the loops, on a clip like I listed above, or paddle?

I have a full size 1911 that I want to be able to carry as well. Obviously that big boy isn't going IWB lol. If you don't think IWB is possible with a 1911, you're doing it wrong. Completely wrong. On another note, I've found that the only way to effectively conceal OWB is with a holster equipped with pancake wings. For instance, the Raven Concealment OWB with pancake wing attachments. I find it hard to believe that you'd find a clip on or paddle holster that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb under a shirt. Why take a gun off just because some place doesn't allow open carry? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of having a gun to be prepared? retention holsters are for police officers. Skip the open carry nonsense, get a good quality concealable OWB, and be prepared. End of story.

I wouldn't say that it isn't possible. But what I would say is that it isn't comfortable. Not near as much as the smaller framed and shorter barreled guns.

I have 3 of those from East, without the thumb break, one for a sig 938, 3 inch 1911, and a 5 inch 1911.
