Taking the shot gun or rifle to school in the truck the first day of dove or deer season. So you could go right after words. But the again back then Krum High shut down the first day of dove season.

First centerfire rifle was a Rem 742 in 30-06 with a Redfield Wide View scope. Bought on lay-away at Otasco in Bastrop Louisiana back in the day.

First pistol was a Ruger New Blackhawk in 45 LC. Bought with annual training paycheck at a local hardware store in Gatesville, TX.

God is so good to me.

I got my first rifle and shotgun from Gibson's. I miss those days, was so much better than Wal-Mart. I can remember buying sporting goods from Wacker's also. As a kid we would go into Oklahoma on sundays to shop at Gibson's and Wacker's due to the blue laws in Texas, that didn't allow stores to be open on sunday.

30378, I also remember pre-sales tax days. When I was a kid in Muleshoe Texas, New Mexico started a 1% sales tax. However, since we didn't live in NMex, we didn't have to pay it.

Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I never bought a gun there but as a kid I bought my 22 adn 20ga ammo at teh Freds Dollar store. was dissapointed when started having to give my allowance money back to my mother to buy my ammo when the laws changed on age to buy ammo and I could not by my own.
