Anybody reload this in .223, and if so, how you like it? What are you using it for? I found 3 boxes at a Walmart last week for $5 dollars per box and grabbed them. I just don't know what I'm going to do with them yet, that is, as far as what I will shoot them at. I will be reloading for the Ruger Gen 2 556. I'm wondering if they would work if targeting a hog behind the ear smile

I have only used them for varmints and they expand real easy. The old Speer manual lists a max velocity for them as they can be driven too fast and come apart in flight.

22-250 loads were slow for that round and weight bullet for that reason more like 223 velocities as max loads with that bullet. I could be wrong but think it is about 3200fps not to exceed and in a fast twist AR probably less. Might be worth checking with Speer. If the twist rate is faster than 1:12 might need to slow them down some to keep them in tact.

As far as on hogs, it would not be my choice but expect it would kill one with a shot to the head delivering all its energy very quickly. Great price on them, I killed a few coyotes with them back in the 90s.

.222 REM

I have one but the load I have "been working on" for over a year is with 55 gr, a little big for .222.

.222 REM should love 50-52 grain bullets. I went cheap with the 55's.

Pass the gravy.
