Looking to load some 30-30 rounds.

According to the Hodgdon website, most powders I have for .223 will work for 30-30.

Anyone have any experience in this?

I also have a pound of SMP763 I bought from Chad, would 30-30 be a good use of it?

Yes, the 763 will work fine. Use the CFE 223 powder data, since this will be very close. You can back it down a grain or two and work up. If you have a chronograph, this will help tell you where you are at on speeds and pressure.

I don’t understand the first half of the post. You have powder. You have load data.

What’s the issue?

Pass the gravy.

Boomstick, if you use 763, be sure and post your results on the 763 thread.

I was asking if anyone has used powder for .223 for the 30-30 round with good results.

unclebubba;

I will let everyone know how it works out. I loaded up 3 batches of rounds. I don't have a chronograph but looking at how the gun performs based on grouping.

Its an old Savage Pump action 30-30.

Sweet BoomStick, the 170s are great rifles. I've owned two chambered in 30-30 Win and two chambered in 35 Rem.

In this last 170, I shot a cast bullet of my design. Here is the load info.

It was chronographed at 2075 FPS and was very accurate.

There’s a whole lot of crossover between powders that work in a 223 and 3030

I’ve loaded imr4064, 4895, varget, titegroup, trail boss, h322, and probably a couple others I’m missing in both rifles.

Once again, if you have the powder and published data, what is the issue?

Micheal, loved that RD 30/30 one you made for me (long time ago). Made an adjustment and have Accurate 170 PB and 185 GC now. All worked great.

Thanks guys! I've put a lot of them downrange and ventilated a bunch of critters with them.
