Anyone have any recommendations for re bluing a rifle? Dfw and surrounding area.

If it were me, I'd talk to Jason Garvey (JG is his handle here). There was discussion the other day about this and he said he's tested and come up with a mixture of colors from Cerakote that look like bluing. It's a better protective coating than bluing.

I bought a rifle from Brother-in-law that was cerakoted a deep, deep blue. If you didn't know, I'm not sure you could tell it's not bluing. I can't remember where it was done (I'd look at my PMs, but oh yeah they're gone) but maybe he'll chime in here with the color and vendor. JG may know this info too.

And if you are a traditionalist, and don't want to cerakote, but want to stay with blue, I bet he can point you to the best person to do that.

We've about got this nailed down. We've got Cerakote blended to look like a semi-gloss blue as well as a flat finish blue. We are working on a gloss blue blend.

I would try out that on an old shotgun in gloss. But looking to reblue a nice bdl varmint special that someone cerakoted the barrel.

I don’t remember the name but it was done by Dareing arms and the color
