Looking for a good Polaris ranger mechanic in or around weatherford tx. Not looking for someone who can replace parts. I need someone who can troubleshoot and resolve an ongoing issue with starting. It is a 2013 800 crew.

What's the issue? I fear the day I have to take mine to a shop. They want a fortune to complete a service that's $100.00 in parts shipped to my house and 30 minutes of time.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Does not like to start. It just cranks and nothing. Cranks and after a Very long time it starts. Once it starts it runs great. Also I could drive it around until warm no problem. If I turn it off then try to restart, I still have the same issue.

We were having the same issue with a 2011 and 2012 Ranger and we started adding Lucas injector cleaner and it basically solved the problem for us.

I also tried that with no luck. I have replaced censor's, fuel pump, plugs, etc and still have a problem. It happens more when it is cold outside. What I do not get is how it runs great once started.

Tight intake valves cause hard starting problems and run ok after they’re warm. If you’ve tried everything else I’d be popping the valve cover and checking them.

Have you tried putting a good charge on the battery and using charger in start mode? Have you replaced the battery lately and bought one with lower CCAs? I have a carbuerated Polaris ATV and have problems with starting after it sits for a few days. I have to prime it. We had to push it up on the trailer at the end of deer season. Got it home put a good charge on battery and cranked right up. My lawn tractor started to have staring issues when cold. I had a crappy bit box store 230 CCA battery in it. Replaced with a 330 CCA Interstate and no more problems.

High octane gas will cause that.

Yep, especially in cold weather. 87 octane only.

I have a Honda 4 wheeler that would die and not start when it got to operating temp. That was generally a mile from the house. I took it to 3 different dealerships who said they had it fixed. Spent a lot of money and got to walk back to the house again and again. I found that dealerships hire make ready and oil change people.

Then I took it to Mikes Off Road who is probably the biggest 4WD maintenance/mechanic shop in North Texas. I’ve known Mike a long time and know he is a damn good mechanic. He immediately said it sounded like a solenoid. We loaded it on his pickup and took it to his home and property outside of Weatherford. He rode it until it failed and checked it out. Yep, solenoid. No problem since and we spend a lot of time on them.

We have a 2018 Polaris 900 that has been hard to start on occasion. A new battery seemed to take care of that. The dying problem after driving for an hour never has been resolved. It does restart so there is that. We have taken it to two mechanics(one dealer) and they didn't fix it.
