Looks similar to the Mark 5 but a little cheaper and a little less zoom ratio. I’m interested!

Mark 4 HD

The 2.5-10X could be quite handy. And at 21 ounces, that's pretty good.

But the 4.5-18X is not going to make me leave my Night Force NX8 4-32X.
Leupold 27.5 ounces. Night Force 28.6 ounces.

For a humble hunter such as I, there is no reason to replace my 17.5 ounce VX5 3-15 for a Mark 4. I’m sure it delivers more than I need.

Looks nice, but I’m still hooked on the Mark 3HD. Light weight and Mil turrets!

Got to play them the MK4HD at DSC today-- well thought out line of scopes, MIL and MOA options, SFP and FFP options and the glass appeared to be very good from looking around just inside at the show. I also like the M1C3 turrets.

The LPVO and the 2.5-10x are 30mm tubes, fixed parallax. The 4.5-18 and up models are 34mm tube and not the much less common 35mm of the Mk5 models. They are sticking to their MOA reticles (PR1/PR2) and I'd like something a bit more hunting friendly in an FFP scope.

Illumination- some models yes, some no-- not sure the rhyme or reason on which.

For the street price I think they will be competitive! They are definitely undercutting the NX8s and the Zeiss FFPs but far enough away from the VX3/5 lines that I don't think they'll be competing for the same customers.

I haven’t seen that with either of mine, but I’m very careful to avoid hard knocks to the scope, or any scope. I suppose that the truth is, for me, that I just don’t hunt hard like I did when I was younger, so I’m not stressing any of my gear much. And I guess that means that I don’t know what a hard knock would do to my scope.

You mean directly to the scope? I’ve hunted one pretty hard for about 7 years, another for a couple and never had a shift of POI at all. I’ve never dropped or banged it around but they do ride in the Ranger, get carried, slung over my shoulder, shot off bipods, etc…..

I bought a new Mark V and mounted it on my 300 PRC and hunted with it all season. Stalking, in the SxS, lots of miles in the truck as well. It performed on all shots to this point, bipod and tripod shots for the most part, a few holds and a few dialed shots out to the 580 yd range. I will find out Friday when I check it on paper before my final hunt of the year if it held zero all this time. I hope it did, I really like the scope at this point.

That mirrors a typical year for me using a VX5 HD. It's on my .308 and I shoot it 12 months, 40-60 rounds per year, dial it on game and the range off of a bipod and sometimes not.

I have around 25 Leopold scopes from all different lines and years and I've never had an issue with any of them. Anyone who wants to get rid of theirs can box them up and send them to me. I will properly dispose of them.

Going to send it back. If replacement has issue, Then I’ll get that one fixed and sale it .

Like you, I wouldn’t hunt with a scope I couldn’t trust, no matter who made it.

Damn. Whatever you figure out on what’s up with the scope stop handling your rifle in a way that is causing you to bang your scope against these objects so often.

How many times a year do you handle your rifle in a way that causes you to accidentally bang your scope against an object?

I hunt hard. In and out of a S x S, truck, in and out of a stand, over fences, drop to the ground and deploy bipod…..I don’t recall banging my scope against an object. My rifles come home so dirty I have to use a toothbrush to get all the dirt and dust out of every crevice. I don’t baby them, but don’t handle them in a way that I’m causing blows directly to my optics.

Probably twice a week. So 104 times a year.

I've got a rifle that goes with me every day, all day. Kawasaki Mule, Tractor, Skid steer, pickup, shop, house. It goes where I go, all of the time. I work at home, and my yard is 70 acres. That's why I've killed about 50 coyotes, just by looking out for them and having my rifle with me.

Cutting hay. Rifle with me. Bout as low tech a rifle rack as there is.

Moving downed trees with the grapple bucket on the skid steer. Rifle with me.

I need to fab some better holders. It hasn't been a priority. I need to make it one.

104 accidental handling bumps per year to your scope. Be careful you don’t have a discharge, your odds are running out.

Good job. Myself, one in the chamber, bolt closed, safety on. Safety off as the rifle goes down range, finger to trigger, squeeze. It’s all one motion.
