It depends on the date of manufacturing. There was a transition in the Submarine line and the earlier ones are not worth nearly as much. Any idea of the date of manufacturing? The serial number is on the edge of the case under the band. A brand new Submarines stainless date has a list price of 10,250. I picked up a 94' model for 1800 bucks about 2 years ago but a newer ones with the box and paperwork could bring$3500 to $5,000

blkt2 is 100% correct, I have the navy with stainless & gold band and bezel dial. Bought at Bachendorf's in early 2000s for $6K or so. Have all the paperwork and box, market value on it has basically doubled. In excellent condition too.

That watch is in rough shape. Subtract 800-1500 for Rolex to restore it.

Submariners are going for above retail, I would buy as many you could bring me for $5000

Ditto. Bring me 6 digit submariners (or Rolexes in general) and I'll pay you $5k for as many as you want to sell once I verify they aren't fakes

How many do you want? I have a friend that buy bags of jewelry from pawnshops and pays a set price by the pound. He gets several Rolexs per week and sells them cheap. All that he cares about is moving the stuff asap so he can buy more and only wants to get his set margin.

Understood, still interested. Each and every REAL Rolex has a value. You have my number now, let me know what he has/gets, or pass it on to him. Either way I will take care of you as well...

I was in the market for one a few months back. Too many fakes and /or modified watches out there so I decided against buying one. Very few places you can trust.

This morning I saw a guy bring his rolex to one of those antique shows. He bought it in 1970's and barely wore it. He still had all of the paperwork and had bought it for $350. It was appraised for $500,000.

I wasn't fast enough on the draw. Let me know if you want a business partner -- I've got a bunch of people to sell to

It was a Paul Newman, WAY under valued at $500k.

When you say it was a Paul Newman do you mean a Daytona? When did thoses hit 500k? After the 08' bust you could get a stainless Daytona for 3500 in near new shape. I bought 2 for that price from Dallas Watch when they were still on Midway. He had about 60 in stock at the time and told me if I ever wanted one that it was the time to buy. I bought an IWC Portuguese the same day and walked out with my wallet feeling pretty beat up.

THE Paul Newman went for close to $18m, I’ve heard this vets watch sold for $1.3. Even in this dip, plenty of four digit Daytonas are still in the half million mark with some of the gold references demanding over a million.

Crazy what a few years does to the market. I bought my Z serial black dial in 2012 and they were pulling about $10-$12k then with an infinite wait list.

When I hear numbers like that and then find out that they are really real it makes me think of the tulip bulb craze where everyone that was buying them was doing so just to resell them.

My favorite is still my first, an Air King. I've been kicking around the idea of ordering a new one but haven't gotten around to it. Someone made a comment about rolex's selling for over list price and I can say that hasn't been my experience. The last new one I bought was about 10 months ago and I paid 5% below list and outside of some ridiculous collectors type watches I can get the same deal on pretty much all of them. If you are serious about Rolexes you should take a trip to Hong Kong, India, the UAE, and Dubai. Gross profit margins on a new Rolex is 40%. Most dealers here in the states won't come off of that at all. Dealers overseas will by a significant amount and they usually have in stock things that are considered rare here in the states.
