My son and I went out for a duck hunt yesterday morning, unusually high tides made us change places. The property we hunted today is 18 miles from where we hunted opening day. Ended up having a fantastic hunt shooting a limit of BBWD. Date hunted 11/16/2023. If you ever get a chance to hunt them they are not real smart and come to decoys for easy shots.

I cut the breast meat into strips and my wife made a duck and sausage gumbo I ate over rice last night. Similar taste to other puddle ducks. Very tasty gumbo.

BBWD was my very first duck I ever shot. No decoys or nothing, just sat near a pond on some property my brother owns and waited for them. 20 gauge Maverick 88 pump. Only shot the one because at the time I thought their limit was 1 (TPWD says "Mexican like duck" limit is 1 bird. AKA, their other name.. "Mexican whistlers". I was mislead)
One of the best eating ducks I've had to date. They fly over my house in the suburbs once a day 365 days a year
