Any herpers, or wildlife afficianados? We found a turtle that isn't a red ear or box turtle. We are a couple miles from Ray Robert's lake.
Any ideas?

It's been a while since I rode a turtle, but if I recall, I just did bareback. If it's a big enough of a turtle, you shouldn't have an issue.

Isn’t it hard to get a bit in their mouth?

I sent those pictures to a friend who is an amateur herpetologist, and he said it's a very old Red Eared Slider.

Carry it down and put it back in the lake if you want to be a good steward to wildlife.

To be determined

Looks like a mud turtle to me. There are several varieties.

This. Please and soon.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

No worries about that. Have killed many on private land.

Just put in back where you found it. The rains have turtles up and moving, had one in my yard the other day. This rain is just a temporary issue for them.

I'm not really an expert in herpetology or anything, but I can definitely try to help you out. That's really cool that you found a turtle! If it doesn't look like a red ear or box turtle, it might be a different species.

That turtle is too small to ride, you need 2 and strap one to each foot

Have you tried looking up different turtle species in your area to see if it matches any of them? If you're not sure, I recommend checking out https://www.tortoiseowner.com/do-tortoises-turtles-show-affection/. They have a bunch of turtle enthusiasts who might be able to help you identify what kind of turtle you found.
