If you have hunted in Uvalde this season I'd like to hear about your dove hunt.

No help yet but …Will be there on the 14th hunting doves just west of town.
Last year was pretty slow in early September but got better later.

We hunted west of Uvalde over a very large picked milo field. The group was 18 strong and we started shooting at 7:20am All three of my party had limits by 8:30am, were checked by wardens by 9:00am and headed into Uvalde to eat by 9:30.

We shot a mixed bag of mourning and white wings. The number of bird on that field was reminiscent of past Uvalde hunts. Shooting opportunities were non-stop with lots of mature and small second hatch birds and you really had to focus on single targets due to the numbers of birds working the field. I spent my time picking out and shooting only the larger mature birds.

We are south of Uvalde and the birds have been pretty good. We fortunately still have water in tanks. We have got a lot of resident birds this year which is a blessing.

We flat spanked the mourning dove due north of you on the Divide in Real County. Caliche pit full of water + dry summer = every bird in the county that wants a drink has to come to you... Everyone limited Friday / Saturday / Sunday and left the birds flying each day.

We had great shooting near La Pryor. Have not seen that many birds in a long time. Half White Wings and half mourning doves on the 14th. The next day there weren't as many flying over our sunflower field but there was plenty of shooting.
Now back to our Bell County lease that has been slow this season.

My Brother and his bunch limited out by 7:38am in Uvalde. Don't know where except Uvalde.
