Awesome, I left it be. I knew it wasn't a copperhead, moccasin, or timber rattler and those are all I'm concerned about.

Does anyone know if rat snakes inflate to swim on top of the water. I’m pretty sure i saw a big one on Amon Carter yesterday. It was swimming with it’s entire length completely on top of the water.

All snakes I've seen besides water snakes float on top. If it's rat snake, I know a .410 will sink them nicely.

I told my boys not to kill a rat snake the other night. The next morning he or his twin was swallowing an egg in my chicken coop. He didn’t get another pass.
