I was asked about tobacco, alcohol, over $10,000 cash, firearms and weapons. They did not care about my dog, food or anything else!!!

I heard you can't go to Canada if you had a prior DUI/DWI on your record, Is that true? Unless something has changed it is. My BIL went there to work and they put him on the next flight back to the US because of him having a DWI. They told him to never return to Canada.

My BIL went there to work and they put him on the next flight back to the US because of him having a DWI. They told him to never return to Canada. Generally speaking this is true if you just show up at the border with a prior dwi they will not let you in but if you really need/want to go there then there are some hoops you can jump through to get in. I have driven in to Canada twice hunting waterfowl. Both times had multiple guns, dogs, tons of ammo, etc. The last time I went they kept us at the border for a while because we had so much stuff the didn’t believe we were on a personal hunting trip and thought we were going to go do some rogue guiding.

But yes, Canada really frowns on prior DWI convictions Been to Canada many times. I’ve answered honestly about having a few cans of snuff for personal use if asked. Never had a problem. I think they are more looking for cartons of cigarettes. It’s tax related.
