I’m planning on heading out to sit in the blind Friday morning, afternoon and Saturday morning. Winds are supposed to be 15mph with gust up to 30mph. Do you guys have any luck on windy days? Friday afternoon and Saturday morning won’t be windy so debating if I should skip the morning hunt on Friday. Will be in Webb County near Bruni, TX. Temps will be in the high 20’s and 30’s.

I watch them every day and they head for the thick cover when it’s windy here. They are in my yard eating everything they can right now at 1:30am. They know what’s coming. They always do.

The rut is on in Webb. You shouldn't have too much trouble seeing deer.

Hunted this area for 35+ years between Aguilares and San Ygnacio and during winds in 25mph, would see deer but far fewer than lower to moderate winds. I'd hunt today then Sat. and on but not Friday during 30mph+ winds.

I haven’t seen much on my camera. Plenty of does and just a few young bucks but don’t look like any chasing is going on.

Thanks for the advice. As of now wind is forecasted for about 15mph. Going to play it by ear and decide later tonight.

My buddy was down there all last week and showed me some videos of some big boys getting after it.

I would definitely go hunting Friday morning. You will be kicking yourself for not going during the rut

I was out there on the 15th and saw nothing but does and one young buck. We will see how it goes tomorrow.

Pretty sure I’ll be out in the blind tomorrow morning.

Is it normal not to see anything on my camera this morning? I’ve had deer out there every feeding since this morning.

If it’s 11 degrees and snow flurries like it is where I’m at then your lens may be frozen and not taking pics.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

Front just hit south Texas a couple hours ago.
I’d still go hunt, it’ll be cold and the deer have to move!

Normal windy days for us usually means less activity. This morning it was 16 degrees with the wind blowing snow sideways and I saw more bucks out than normal. I would have guessed they would have been out in force yesterday preparing for the cold but not so much.

5 bucks, 4 does and 3 fawns so far this morning. New buck I have not seen all season was the first buck in at daylight. Bucks are starting to tolerate each other now, so our rut is about over. 9° with a 10mph breeze.
