I am on a Mills Co lease, off FM 2005, one mile South of the Hamilton Co line. Our hunting has been really slow, and we are not seeing many deer. Corn is piling up at the feeders. We finally got some rain, but overall it is still dry. My guess is that the recent rain has greened up the forage, and there are also acorns. Plus it has been very warm and mild. I am hoping the next cold front will get the deer moving. Any thoughts?

It’s been the story all over not just in mills. The processing shop in Hamilton said they have been down around 300 deer so far this year so your not alone.

Deer had to really disperse this summer chasing what little food and water they could get. Heat and fought destroyed the fawn crop, and that allowed does to be more mobile without kids in tow. Recent rains and acorns have helped them out but that’s made hunting difficult. Mine off 572 east of town have never stopped hammering the feeders but all my bucks are gone now.
