The acorn drop appears to be peaking right now in East Texas. After seeing them start to pile up in my yard, I checked with a friend who has been hunting this week and said the corn is now piling up under his feeders. This weekend's strong cold front should send them chasing acorns even more.

The trees are loaded in Leon County, corn isn’t getting cleaned up but we did see a young buck and a doe jump in the feed pen and eat a little. Hunting has been slow, no mature bucks seen yet, I’m ready to take the grandkids west hopefully around thanksgiving.

The dry weather is also making sure the acorns don't sour as quickly as they do with more rain or even some flooding.

I’ve been seeing the corn pile up, and nothing on the cameras for a few days. But last night, at 3 am, the sounder came back to my back feeder. I’ll set the trap tomorrow.

Between the warm weather and acorns, the deer are not moving much for us. Especially with a full moon.

I’m really glad to hear that I’m not the only one with a pile of corn under my feeders. I’m hunting the acorns as I type this.

Same at my place. Plenty of acorns, no sign of deer. The patient hunter will be rewarded……

No acorns South of Bowie.

Very slow in Leon county, usually after a rain and a crisp norther there’s lots of movement. Acorns and full moon is hurting daytime movement. I’m ready to take the kids to Coleman county in a couple weeks, no acorns out there and moon should be gone by then.

Central Texas, got Spy Point cameras and only seeing deer and hogs after midnight. Corn also piling up under feeders and at $12 a sack, only feeding a couple of seconds twice a day. Hogs coming to sour corn also at night. Hopefully cold front will change things.

Hunting in Gonzales county and not seeing anything. Sat 4 times and have not seen 1 deer at the feeder which is very rare.

I’ve had corn piling up for a while…
Even the hogs aren’t eating it all
Acorns are absolutely everywhere.. those trees are pushing them out at a mega level that’s for sure
Not a lot of movement
I’m hoping this weekend will be a lot better

I have a fair number of deer on my property and I am only seeing deer cruising the food plots (which look amazing). The corn feeders have had virtually no activity since around 10-15. I turned my feeders down to 2 seconds (and could have turned them off since there is almost 40 lbs under every one of them
It seems like there are 1,000,000s of acorns on the ground......they are EVERYWHERE!!

Same for me. No movement today & acorns everywhere. Typically I'd see at least a couple deer. Also no picks on cameras starting about a week ago

In 3 sits i've only seen 2 does. Camera has pics of 2 bucks and the does and hogs. 2 weeks ago, 10 different bucks. We don't have an oak tree on the place, less than 100 acres, just honey locust, hackberry, mesquite, bois d'arc and pecan, so it is a waiting game.

Hunt the food source, perfect time to hunt under a tree and go old school with a cushion and a pair of shooting sticks.
