If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

Good.

Needs some more age.

Beautiful coat color on that buck.

Perfect call, Cap'n! He's got some potential.

That buck will be a stud in a couple of years

It seems like every year I’m passing up young bucks like this guy and never seeing them the following years. We’ve been at this ranch for 13 seasons, and the bucks never seem to mature. Every year we say, “let him pass, and he’ll be a stud.”

Smart move. He can't get any better if he's dead.

Sometimes they turn that smart switch in their head up to high when they hit 5 or older.

Keep passing the young ones up and eventually you will be damn happy you did.
Think of it this way, if you don't pass him up he damn sure isn't getting any bigger than he is now! lol

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Good call, he’s young and will probably grow into something nice, unless you have neighbors like I got.

Good choice. That deer here would be dead. Folks around here won’t let them grow. The big ones u do see are smart as hell.

Not a 1-2.5, I'd say 3-3+

Hunt pretty close geographically to the OP looks like a typical 3-4 year old. Contrary to what you read on the internet not all mature deer are big, score high, or even look pretty. We hunt a smaller LF place and it took a few years of passing lots of feed and quiet time but we see mature deer yearly now.

Disturb the place as little as you can feed them and they will come.

Agree he is not 4 or older

He almost looks 2.5 in those two pics the OP posted. If so, he certainly has potential to be a good one

I would think 3. Down there they are a solid month and a half out on the rut yet, last weekend bucks were still together. He’ll swell up and look a little older.
