Good afternoon everyone my name is Jackson and I go to Texas A&M and have been searching for some public land duck hunting for this season. I have seen Lake Conroe and Lake Somerville can be good, but I just wanted to ask if there's any other solid public hunting around the area. Anything helps and would love to talk about it!

Shouldn't you be studying and leaving the duck hunting to us?

I could be wrong but I thought Granger is an option but it’s very hit and miss.

There are no lakes in Texas.
Welcome.
There are some links at the top of this forum that will give you some info. I'd refrain from naming lakes in your post. They're not a secret but anyone with an Internet search engine will get some free info. Lakes are pretty crowded as it is.
Follow the links and come back for specific questions. Ask about a general area and ask if someone will pm you. Such as ”I have some questions about waterfowl in the A&M area if someone can pm me." May get some takers that way.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

Just an FYI, if they knew a hundred places to duck hunt in your area they wouldn't post on here. Someone may PM you but when you post a location on here that place gets over run with internet scouters. Good luck.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I was in your shoes about ten years ago. Without a boat, lots of free time, and a good gas budget your options are slim at best. I joined the tamu DU chapter to try and "find some friends" but the clique of people in the know, or had access to nearby land to hunt was pretty dodgy. Most folks I knew ended up going back home to hunt. You could always try day hunts. I know its not the same as diy, but its better than nothing.

Heading to the coast is probably better than those lakes. Long drive, but try and evening hunt or 2.
