Last night's episode of "Gun Stories" noted how this model was rated tops by women who participated in a special event held here in the Houston area.

Thinking of buying one for the wife.

Anyone like or dislike this model?

TIA

P.S. Good episode in case you missed it, as are most of the shows in this ongoing series.

It's really nice. Only downside that I can find is size. It's getting large for a carry pistol for me and really large for a woman. But it's so user-friendly and if they're going to keep it in their car or purse, there may not be a better option out there.

I bought one for my Daughter in Law, she's a tiny thing and struggled with the slides on every pistol she tried. She has no issues with the EZ.

I got the 380 version for my fiancee, she loves it. It has one of the longest barrels of any current production 380, so you're milking a little more velocity/fpe out of the round. Personally I'm not crazy about having a grip safety and it did take some breaking in and didn't like steel cased ammo, but aside from that it's very easy to use and reasonably accurate, good for building confidence in someone like my fiancee who hadn't done a lot of handgun shooting. She doesn't carry it, but it's her home defense gun.

I should have went with the 380 for her, the 9 is a little too snappy for her little hands. I bought my Son a 9mm too and wanted to keep ammo the same.

Glad they make one in .380 so that I don't need to buy a lot of 9mm ammo.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I got the 380 EZ for the wife. She’s a revolver person, she later decided, so the EZ gets shot by me sometimes, but otherwise sits in the safe. Great shooting pistol though. I’ve thought about swapping it for a 9 EZ, but probably won’t. The 380 is just so pleasant to shoot.

The wife’s objection to the pistol is that she thinks it’s complicated. I mean, geez, you have pull this slide thingie back, and there are all these lever and buttons. Whew! Ok, revolver it is. No slide thingie or levers and buttons.

Correction: I went back and checked my DVR recordings and the show that highlighted the "Ladies Pistol Project" was last night's episode of American Rifleman. Also, it was the .380 version of the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield EZ that was scored as the top performing pistol. With Gun Stories and American Rifleman airing on the same night, my 62-year-old memory failed me. My apologies.

Lady friend of my wife wanted a pistol for home defense. Took her to gun shop and checked out several guns. I had researched the EZ and knew it would be something she could handle. After not being able to rack several pistols I asked the sales person to let her handle the EZ. WOW what a change she exclaimed! She liked the feel of the 9mm pistol, being able to rack it and we bought it right. Took her to the range and she fired a couple mags with good results. When I go to the range she comes and now feels secure at home.

I bought my wife the .380 version a couple of years ago, and she loves it. Due to availability (and subsequent pricing) of .380 ammo over the past 18 months, she wanted to get the 9mm version. She likes it even more.

Since she has carpal tunnel issues, it's one of the few slides she can comfortably and confidently operate. Both versions have been dead reliable and trouble free over the 1500 rounds through the 9mm so far and over 3500 rounds through the .380.

She won't even consider another pistol at this point.

ETA: A bit off the subject, but I'm really liking the S&W M&P 2.0 series. I've been shooting the compact 3.6 and the full size (Glock 17 size for comparison) and they're excellent. From what I've experienced so far, S&W is doing some really good stuff with their pistols nowadays.

I've got one in 9mm and my 14 year old daughter who has minimal upper body strength likes it. She's as thick as a tomato stake and has never mentioned recoil, so I don't either.

She’s not alone. Lots of people out there who like the simplicity of a revolver

For the money they are pretty tough to beat IMO

Got the 380 for my wife and she now wants to get afgermarket grips for it...but the pistol has integral grips that are part of the gun...no way to put aftermarket grips on the gun...:-(

I have talon grips on my shield 40 and really like them. They are pre-cut for your specific model and easy to put on. Just a thought
