I have a Rem R-25 AR10. I know 7.62 and 308 are the same but is it actually safe to use 7.62?
Thanks

Read this: https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/308-win-vs-7-62-nato-what-s-the-difference/

#1 rule is use what’s stamped on your barrel.

Hope this helps. I have .308 rifles, both bolt and semi, and really have no need to shoot nato rounds in them.

We have many reliable members here that will offer their expertise.

Yes it is safe to shoot 7.62 in your 308. Is your rifle marked 308 or 7,62? I have a good amount of 7.62 ammo I shoot in various 308 rifles just for fun and will say the brass is good for reloading though it holds a few grains less powder. Accuracy with the average 147 grain ammo is around 1.5 inches usually.
