I have a friend who has a 1954 savage model 99 in 243 caliber that is in mint condition and has never been fired. What do you think is the value of a gun like this? Thanks

Sorry I was wrong. Still should be worth quite a bit giving the condition you say it is in.

I would agree $800.00 to $900.00. I'm looking for one in 30.30.

According to Wikipedia(i know not the best source) the 243 came out in 55, so the gun probably isn't a 54. However, if it really is mint, unfired i think it would sell to the right person for over a grand. I see some rough ones selling for 700 or so

I see some rough ones selling for 700 or so 3 The receiver containing the serial # could have been made in 54. According to the resources I have here the 243 was standardized in 55.

Nice find. Hope it ends up in the hands of someone who greatly appreciates it.

I had a 7-30 Waters 7-30 Waters that the serial # showed to be from the year before It was produced is what reminded me of it can happen. Receivers are made and not always used in the number order.

I inherited a 1960s model 99 in .358 Win from my late grandfather. Beautiful rifle that I'll never part with.
