I'm sure they've been available for some time now, but yesterday I picked up a couple of remotely controlled power outlets so the wife and I could turn on the Christmas lights from inside the house. Granted, electric timers have been available for many years, but these remote power outlets were only $10 each. I bought two that use the same Bluetooth channel so a single remote could be used to control the lights on both the house (front outlet) and fence (back outlet). The total cost was actually cheaper than multiple outlet offerings being sold online and yielded us an extra remote.

For now, our Blink cameras are the only IP-enabled devices in our home, short of our laptops, cell phones and flat screen. Not sure the wife will ever let me go much further considering her fear of Big Brother using the technology to take over the world.

On this new house built last year have all remote outlets on each corner under wrap around porches controlled by switches front and back inside. Wifes idea for pretty Christmas Lights and if She "wants" to put up said lights, I say all the time,,, "Go for it Sugar"

We have our Christmas lights on remote timers, I set them once and do not have to worry about them till it time for them to come down.

It’s amazing how technology from the 50’s still works perfect today yet is forgotten in favor of the newest gadget that requires one to remember to turn them off.

Tried that once and found the photosensor caused the lights to bounce on and off as the light dimmed in the evening.

We have a timer on the LED lights we have on our patio and use them as well on inside lights when going on vacation.

And while the Christmas lights are on ground fault circuits, we usually leave them off during very wet conditions.

I use these. They connect to my wifi and then i use the app to set the timer or i can turn them all on or all off or turn each strand on and off individually. Then I can use them around the house for lamps and other things to turn on and off when we are out of town to make it look like we are home.

Yea, I bought 4 of those remotes from Lowe's for $10 each. I am going to get some more. They have 2 plugs each and the remote works from anywhere in the house. Have the back lights on one, front lights on another. Wife even put one on a lamp behind a big chair that is hard to reach.
Funny thing is the outdoor ones are only $10 but the indoor ones are $20.
I like em'.
