I don't think anyone can tell you what kind of fence you can build unless you are in a subdivision with a HOA.

FWIW, back in the mid 90's I spoke with a biologist with P&W, they told me then, I needed to have 50 acres+ to fence in native deer. I never questioned it and that may not be the same now. Thinking about that now, doesn't seem very practical.

One of our neighbors has about an acre high fenced to keep deer out and from eating their horse feed. Deer get in. I agree with Don.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

If it is your property, pretty sure you can do what ever the heck you want unless there is a county or city code against it.

Thanks, but is there a problem with game laws if deer are trap in? You would still be bound the the TPWD guidelines for deer hunting in your county.

It would have to be outstanding habitat & supplemental feeding would be necessary for a 'few deer' on 10 acres. How many doe? Buck or bucks? Very soon you'd be overpopulated, then what?
Be a lot less expensive to set up a corn or protein feeder & enjoy the free range deer that visit.

Be a lot less expensive to set up a corn or protein feeder & enjoy the free range deer that visit. Just a buck or a doe. I have a ranch that is low fenced and thousand of acres around me. If I did have extra deer, I would just open the gate. We had a doe and it was really neat to have her around. We did not mind the cost of feeding her, for many years she had triplets and we would not see her for several months. Once she got older, she would stay around the house and come each morning and my wife would give her an apple. She lived until she was 20 years old. Since Texas has now been invaded, with people from other states, it would be hard to keep one around the house, without a high fence. I do not want to break the law, just want to know the rules and keep peace with the neighbors, since it would be bad news if their two big dogs, came over killing stuff.

I still think you can fence off whatever you want. And from doing fencing on my own property things don't always go the way you want. When the last part of the fence is raised you may or not have what you originally wanted to either fence in or fence out.
