Stx can confuse a phd in physics on physics!!

In regard to the OP, if that buck is 4 years old and 14", is there a good reason not to take him?

This deer is 13” or just a hair under. I would put a significant amount of money on it! If we are measuring on the inside as you should.

Not going to say right or wrong or on the money yet. Would you shoot him in a 14" AR county if it existed?
How wide is this buck?

I’d say this deer is 17”.... I never said I’d shoot any of the above deer. OP asked how wide and I gave my answer. Only deer I would probably shoot is the one in velvet.

I never said you would shoot any of them. My question was "would" you shoot the first buck if it was under a 14" minimum AR. The first buck was just a hair under 13 6/8" IS the second buck was 14 2/8" IS. Both deer were killed on the same property. Most people do not consider body size and ear size difference when judging deer. First deer dressed 108 lbs and second one dress 139 lbs. Most do not look at actuall ear size of a deer and first one is very small while second one is large. Here the tip tip ranges from 13" to 17". First buck was 13" and second one was closer to 16". Ear length on Texas deer ranges from 5" to 8". The deer in the OP post is a hill country deer and going to be smaller in body size.

Dang, I was off by 3/8". Thought my carpenter eyes were sharper than that.

Ok, so I was 1/4” off on the 1st deer and 2 3/4” on the second. I still think the OP deer is closer to 15”, he looks bigger than the deer you first posted.
