Do you run a straight mallard setup or do you mix in various puddler or divers for variation?

It all depends on the area that you hunt. We use a mixed spread of gadwall, wigeon, teal, pintail, and mallards.

Your decoys should match the birds in the area. If I'm hunting gadwall and pintails, I'm throwing mostly those.

Teal, a handful of mallards, few gadwall, and some woodies. Because that’s what I shoot where I hunt.

I don’t give it much thought since I mostly shoot a mix bag of puddlers. Thus 2-4 dozen mixed decoys consisting of greys, widgeon, pintail and mallards.

I use mallard and pintails, but those are the species I'm after.

When I was a kid we couldn't afford decent decoys. We used unpainted black decoys. They worked fine. Now I have greys, teal and mallard.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

We use a combination of Wigeon, gaddies, pintail, teal and Cans. The cans really catch their eye.
We almost never use mallard decoys.

Combo of mallard, pintail, and gadwall in the past along with a Wonder Duck which is AWESOME!! This year have some GWT and a couple Canada's to add to the mix.

Nothing but spooners and coots. Be sure to muddy up the water real good in your spread too!
