Good hunt with cooperative hogs, my first time shooting in this field. Of course, shooting them was the easy part, finding them in the dips and rolls of the landscape and knee high grass was another matter, LOL.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Big pig and nice shooting.
In many, many years hunting pigs, I've only had 2-3 turn out like that and it usually involves multiple shooters! Lots of onesies and lots more empty handed!

In many, many years hunting pigs, I've only had 2-3 turn out like that and it usually involves multiple shooters! You know, sometimes I think multiple shooters create more of a problem and don't always result in greater numbers. Here are my thoughts. This isn't absolute, but just based on observations. Sounders have their own personalities and can react very differently from one another and as such, there can be no absolutes. Basically, slow, controlled fire by 1 or 2 shooters can often yield better results than a group of shooters blasting away because the 1 or 2 shooters aren't scaring the hell out of the hogs nearly so much and so they don't run as far as fast and the group doesn't fragment nearly as much. So if you are in an open field, you get multiple opportunities at slower, controlled shots where the shooter pulls the trigger when the shooter is ready to fire (sights settled on target) as opposed to firing out of desperation in hopes of dropping a hog before the opportunity is gone and as a result, not shooting nearly as cleanly. Sometimes taking that extra half second to let your sights settle where you want them to be is the difference between making a good shot and making a bad shot. The time in the scope will feel like an eternity, but it really isn't. If you see in the video, I missed my 4th shot because I failed to do this. I rushed the shot, didn't get a proper lead on the hog(s) (they were grouped), and the hogs literally ran out of the bullet's path. Had I taken that little bit of extra time, I would have swung on through to a proper point before pulling the trigger, but I didn't and I missed as a result.

ing with andriod not up ta date, video not shown. one must remember, advantage goes ta hunter with the NV-Thermal, hogs not able a see that well at night. Try walking around in d woods at night with out high-tech, caveman hunts. The shots startle hogs, as in other discussions - taking time for accracy ol school learning from single shot-accracy. On WMA's used me AR, lighter & easier ta manuover in thick cover, 10rd mag with 3-5 rounds. Things happen fast, easy ta get caught up in moment, specialy with fast action semi-auto. The spray mathod not accurate. As you stayted, let settle. they cant see in darkness, reason seen more in open fields, they use moon-light. WMA ol atv trails full of hog sign. Mostly done at night they feel safer under darkness. Keep up the goid work DNS, that bounty thing would help alittle with your expensise, & would make bigger dent in handling hg problems. SAFETY FIRST.

Great video. I have noticed you use the 90 gr instead of the 123 gr hornady what is the reason?

Good job, I like hunting w/ one or two other hunters, no more. Also I feel it is safer.

You and Jake must be pretty tough! I've had the experience of dragging hogs that weighed just a little over 200 Lbs through grassy fields , and it was tough even with a buddy to help. Nice shooting!
