Just acquired a .300 Blackout and would like ideas for optics. Would prefer something with mil or a BDC reticle and also first focal plane.

I'd consider the SS 3-9 FFP for that round in both super and sub loadings. Plenty of ele adjustment when needed and lots of holdover on the windshield. Is this a bolt gun or AR?

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I might get blasted here, but I just topped mine with the vortex viper 1-6x24 with the illuminated retical, and love it.. The brightness settings have a click in between, so if you like to set on 4 or 5, you can turn off with one click in between versus dialing all the way back to zero.. Yes, I cheaped out on the mounts..

That cheek weld though.... Are you referring to the height? I ordered online last wednesday, headed out on Friday. Ordered medium height and know I screwed up.. got any recommendations maybe in the $100-150 range? It sits right on my cheek bone, but seems to fit my 9yo son well..

Yes sir, I'm surprised you were able to get a cheek weld. I wasn't poking fun at your choice, but those rings make it tough to get a solid cheek weld. Use this: https://swfa.com/swfa-s-s-a-l-t-30mm-scope-mount.htmlIt is much more forgiving.

I went with a 1-4 and to be honest in hunting situations I think I'm wanting to jump up to a 3-9 may just be my eyes but I would like a little more magnification. The 1-6 may be a little better but I would pass on a 1-4
