Would love your ideas on a FFP Mil/Mil scope that would go on a 600 yard max 20” 6.5 creed that would mainly be used for hunting.
I like FFP with Mil reticle and turret, shorter target style turrets are ideal, but I’m not opposed to capped turrets. I have a gen 1 Vortex PST 6-24 that is ok but is quite long with tall turrets, and a Vortex AMG 6-24 that is awesome, but a tad bulky.
I’m looking at the Gen 2 Vortex PST 3-15x44. Would that be a decent choice or is there something else that might be better?

Stiener T5XI has shorter turrets . The 3-15 model would be a good choice for that rifle and the SCR reticle is nice. The Burris xtr ii would be a good choice as well. I had the 4-20x50 and hunted a bunch with it. I never felt the turrets got in the way and they never got turned accidentally.

3-15x is super handy. According to others the Gen II Viper is pretty good. Turrets ars still to easy to turn for my taste. Consider NF SHV 4-16x and Burris XTR II.
If budget allows, I'll never steer anyone away from an SS 5-20X HD. I've had the same one for 6 years, made tens of thousands of shots with it, spotted just aa many, it's never been sent in.

Glass and reticle on the PST Gen 2 3-15 are very good, but quality can still be hit or miss.
Agree that the XTR II, T5Xi, SWFA 5-20 HD are all very good options.
The SWFA 5-20 HD can be had for about $1k until tomorrow (I think) during SWFA's tax sale.

I think a mark 5 can be a good choice too
If it’s for hunting clarity and brightness are hugely important. I will take glass over any feature because it extends hunting time. I have some scopes struggle in low light

Fellas, thank you for the suggestions, I’ll be adding those to my list of scopes to research.

Bushnell LHRS is a DAMNED good hunting scope in the 3-12 I have ran one a bunch and feel very confident with it's capabilities. The Steiner 3-15 is another great option and it has great glass and pretty light an compact for what it is.. I have used that a bunch hunting and will be using one a lot this coming deer season. On a 16" Tikka CTR And my 2nd one on a Wilson Combat 18" 308

I have a SWFA 3-9 and the 3-15. I like the glass and turrets better on the 3-9 but I almost feel the 3-15 is a little more flexible. It definitely has better eye relief and I like the side focus. The reticle gets a little small at 3x. If you're going to be any target shooting I'd do 3-15. If it's just going to be hunting I'd go 3-9. If SWFA would make a 3-15HD then I'd throw them more money!

If you're not wanting to spend NF money, the LRHS is hard to beat (as Coker said). I like them better than the SWFA's because of the low profile turrets, zero stop, and easier to read numbers on the dial. The glass in these are way better than the non HD SWFA's as well. Shop around and you can find them for around $750.

I love NF scopes.. and have an ACTAR 5-26 Mil-C coming, but I will put the LHRS up against it. They really did a great job. More companies need to offer similar scopes to the LRHS 3-12 I wish they would have done a 3-15x50 over the 4.5-18x44

They have kept the adjustment turrets/knobs in a very low profile which is great for hunting. I've shot with it to 800 yards with FiremanJG no problem. Mainly use it for hunting.

The leupold mk 5 3.6-18 would be nice on a hunting gun.
I run a premier 3-15 and absolutely love it but it's not overly compact and far from budget friendly.

I’ve heard SWFA is working on some new stuff.
They would sell out if they could modernize their lineup with a 5-25 and 3-15 with HD glass and good reticle options. They don’t need to change anything else IMHO.

I'd buy a 3-15X in HD glass, immediately.

I'm really liking my sig Tango 4 4-16x44 for gen ii pst money except when it is really sunny. Also a rock solid choice is the weaver 3-15x50 ffp tac model with emdr reticle it's proved itself to me and glass is very good not just good (subjective) can be had for 599 on Natchez. It's probably one of the best scopes in the $1100 less category. Built 100% by Low in Japan. A bit of a jump in price is the bushy 3.5-21 dmr II. I just got it and compared it to my Steiner T5 5-25 and MK 6 3-18. Not quite apples to apples but this weekend I preferrred the bushy. The turrets on the T5 are probably some of the best of any scope in any price range. Just my 2 cents

Thanks a ton guys, you’ve given me lots of other options to look at. I’m shooting for the $1000-$1300 range, and most of your suggestions are in line with that and under!

The SWFA SS line may not have all the latest features but they have earned a great reputation for reliability and precision. They are an absolute steal when you get them on a Black Friday for Tax Day sale.

$1000-1300
Bushnell LHRS
SWFA 5-20 HD
I’d say for hunting the Bushnell 3-12 has the advantage with the lower magnification available and good glass. They haven’t upgraded the 5-20 HD in years for a reason. At its price point I don’t think it can be beat for the tough SOB it is that tracks perfect every time with good glass.

You're right. HD and ZS and better reticle.
