Sig Kilo 2000 or now 2200. For the price it's the best thing out there.

since all of us aren't affluent like the above If you are of normal means, check out the Bushnell CONEX combination. Great reviews so far at about half the price as the Kilo. I run a Leica Scan 1200, works fine for me and my simple uses. I'm not trying to hit something moving on the moon while the earth is spinning in a high humidity atmosphere below sea level. I don't need a wind meter and a weathervane at my side while I try to hit a hunk o steel 800 yards away where the wing could be blowing the opposite direction at a higher speed

For elk hunting leave the leica's at home, they cost me a shot at an elk. Since elk hunting isn't a cheap game, I'll start with try to find a Vectronix Terrapin. You won't find a more reliable range finder for getting ranges on hard targets. From there I'd go with the swarovski EL, the glass is phenomenal and you don't have to carry separate binos. Also, the bushnell fusion 1 mile binos are extremely good rangefinders. The glass is eh, but it's range finding abilities are better than anything I've tried in the field except for my Terrapin in actual hunting situations. I have not played with or owned a sig kilo, so I can't say much about them. But I would get my hands on some to really test out before I trusted them on a elk hunt. The type of hunting I do is public and low percentage on getting a shot at a good bull, so I want to know what I'm using works. I sold my leica's the week after I got back when they failed to bounce a bull that was for sure less than 1000 yards.

And.. another vote for Sig Kilo.. Only problem I have with mine is if there's even a light rain it doesn't work past about 400yds. Probably need a stronger laser in those conditions.
