I'm going on a Mule deer hunt next week around Fort Davis and I need to know how much my dope will be off going from 900 ft to 4800 ft elevation. I plugged my info in Geobalastics and it's telling me that I will only be a tenth or two off . That doesn't seem right to me. Is this correct?

What is the maximum distance you will take a shot?
What bullet and velocity?
Apart from that, checking the zero when you arrive there will reduce the difference, if any.

Generally, you will not see significant changes until 500 yards. The farther out you shoot, the more temp and DA change velocity decay, and therefore change elevation corrections.

Thanks. I probably won't shoot a deer if it's over 400-500 yards especially if it's windy . Pigs and coyotes you bet .

Just check your zero when you arrive out there and rerun the local conditions on a phone app and you should be fine. Good luck!

A tenth or two sounds about right at 5-600 with a 4000ish change. Zero wont change, but pick you a rock at 500 and let one rip with a spotter. Also good luck!

Title of the thread had me thinking the topic was going to be the 1960s.
