Oh man, after annealing batches of 300 pieces of brass for 2 rifles, I tumbled, lube and full sizing, no problem and when its time to measure case length, I know what's coming and its trimming!!!! I hate trimming!!! I removed the handle on my RCBS case trimmer and hooked up a drill to it, it speeds it up, but I hate to measure each one to make sure on right length after the trim and deburrs case mouths.
I want to upgrade. how about a Giraud? Anyone use the Giraud, not sure about the Little Crow Gunworks World's Finest Trimmer, or any trimmer that trims fast and deburrs case mouths automatically? Any pro and cons? Any trimmers I should stay away from?

Giraud is bad to the bone! Just noticed that you need to adjust the cutting blade for each caliber change. It takes several cases before you get it right?

You can’t beat a Giraud. After you set it up and learn how to use it... it’s on the money

I have the worlds finest trimmer and you still have to debut afterwards. It is super consistent though. I mostlymlike the tool. Never even heard of the other one u mentioned. I’m still relatively new to reloading.

I have the worlds finest trimmer and you still have to debut afterwards. It is super consistent though. I mostlymlike the tool. Never even heard of the other one u mentioned. I’m still relatively new to reloading. No doubt that the Giraud is a top line trimmer but it might not fit everybody's reloading or be within their budget. I'm reloading 48 different firearms chambered in 28 different cartridges, all styles of pistol and rifle cartridges. Almost all of my rifle cartridges use non-SAAMI trim lengths. I wanted to throw primer pocket beveling and uniforming into the mix as well as I only wanted to handle a cartridge once and not come back to it. I bought this Lyman Case Prep Xpress in December in 2015, all nice and new, but it is still turning after approximately 10K cases. To be exact, not counting cases that have been tossed, 10,504 cases. I went off the Lyman reservation and mounted a Lee Treaded Cutter Adapter at the 12 o'clock position, you must epoxy the treaded stock into the body or it will eventually work loose, and use the Lee Case Length Gauges. Custom Length Gauges are $16; they went up a buck in the last year. That eliminates any adjustment issues between required case lengths within a given cartridge. For instance, I have five different rifles in a specific cartridge and each requires a different case length. All have custom gauges, and I'm in it, without any adjustment of the cutter, for $75. I did time my operations last winter when I prepped my handgun cases, all five functions, for progressive reloading and I was able to maintain a rate of 200 cases per hour.

The Giraud is $459.99! I'll stick with my Lee setup. 10,000 cases a year, I really have no buyer's remorse. I trimmed 150 pieces this afternoon, so 13 minutes and 30 seconds. The lathe, and hand chamfer debur tool, that 150 cases would have taken 150 minutes, 2 1/2 hours.

I dont know that I load enough to justify it, but that is a setup I would truly enjoy. I currently use a lathe Universal trimmer with a power adapter and cordless drill. Then the RCBS case prep center. It is very consistent and faster than what I used to do. Time wise it is not even in the same league. The Giraud just made my want it list.

By the way. I had to change the cutter from 6.5mm to .30 cal. I was talking to a friend on the phone, and still managed to get the cutter adjusted in about 90 seconds.

Giraud is coming. Thanks I was wondering once you set it up after you full size your brass, then trim it to your trim length after adjustments, then save one piece of brass that was trimmed to adjust your trim length later if you change the case holders / cutter heads so you won't have to mess around with it to get the right trim length? Could you explain how you do it? If its a secret, feel free to PM me. There is a lock ring to lock the trim length, can you use the Hornady or Redding die lock rings?

Install a Hornady lock ring onto the die, and keep it snug up against the trimmer to set to your desired length. Once everything is set like you want it, tighten the Allen screw on the lock ring. I use a fine Sharpie and put a timing mark on the die, the lock ring, and the actual trimmer at 12 o'clock. The next time I screw that die in the trimmer, I tighten it until the timing mark on the lock ring hits the timing mark on the trimmer, and get to trimming.
