I was hunting with my boy over Thanksgiving week, and had not had a chance to post this until now. We were out mainly to get him his first deer. Buck or doe, didn't matter. I made him pass on a forkhorn on Monday. (He wanted to shoot that little guy so bad! LOL) Shortly after he missed a doe. We searched for about a half hour, but never found even a drop of blood. On Tuesday evening, our 5th hunt of the week, we were sitting behind a brush pile in a field that the deer had been frequenting. We were set up so Chay could cover about 75% of the field. I limited him to 100 yards, which is probably being a little generous, considering he missed a doe at 50 the day prior. Just about last light, a few deer come out into the field on the far side, out of his range, unfortunately. One of them was this big dude. His rack is not very big compared to other deer in the area, and a bunch of his tines are broken off, but his body was HUGE! Pot belly, and massive shoulders. I'm sure it's hard to tell from these pics, but any guess on age? I am thinking that maybe he is older and possibly in decline with his rack not matching the size of his body? As for Chay, he will get a few more chances to bag a deer later this year.

Nice take down young man congrat Thanks! But, I think I am a few years past "young man". LOL This guy was about 160 yards out. Too far to let my boy try to take the shot. He is limited to 100 yards max.
