Correct me if im wrong but i think Texas Parks and Wildlife continues to say there is over a million public acres to hunt in Texas, and i am pretty sure they include the bodies of water (lakes) in this acreage. Why are they including water, that u cant do anything but fish on. Seems to me like they should ONLY include LAND in there marketing of acreage to the public. Any one else out there irritated by this? False advertising to public maybe?

From their website "...over 1 million acres of publicly accessible land...". To me, this means exactly what it says. They are considering land and it is accessible to the public. There are the National Forests and Refuges, drawn hunt opportunities (with many being on large properties), etc. But, that doesn't mean it is all public land. There are quite a few privately owned properties that TPWD leases and the public has access to during certain dates/seasons.
I could be wrong, but I believe they are ONLY including LAND and not falsely advertising. If water was being included, I'd think they would include navigable rivers/streams and coastal waterbodies as that would add a lot more 'acreage' for their advertising.

Hmmmm, yes i thought about the duck hunting prior to my post, and i guess i could be wrong on this... Just seemed like some of the WMA maps in the books, seemed to be including the lakes, but again, i could be wrong on, will have to double check... I would hope they would keep the lakes out of their estimates, not downing duck hunters, but seems like Public Land estimates should be stuff you can walk on.
