Been using it for 10 years to cover my dog. I love the burlap from homedepot, it is lightly woven, this burlap is for planting... It is so porous, I can complete cover my dog and she can still mark birds. Well today I decided to cover my whole 17 gatortrax/muddbuddy with it. Cost me $33. Like $11 a roll of 3 ft x 24 ft, zip tie together, I made 9 ft x 24 ft boat cover... Complete cover my 17 ft gatortrax, motor and all, room to spare. And because it is so lightly woven, it take little space. This is lightly rolled up, folded in 3rds. I bought this today, love this stuff, 12 pounds $80 is pretty good.. I'm going to weave that into my burlap cover. http://tanglefree.com/product/stealth-grass-12-lb-natural

Will it get heavy when wet?
I admire your sewing skills, those are straight seams

That is a down side as opposed to synthetic material. But burlap doesn't hold water like cotton, and that porous burlap holds even less water, and dries fast. I been using it to cover my motor last few years, it hangs off into the water, not an issues. And my Momarsh I been using it to cover motor and dog.

What's your plan for the boat-sized cover? Building a blind? Or do you just stash the boat with it?

What's your plan for the boat-sized cover? Building a blind? Or do you just stash the boat with it? It's really to cover it and stash it. But there are times I will hunt out of it, when I do, I will probably sit on top of the cover, maybe my legs under it. Even with my Momarsh my preference is to not hunt out of it, I would rather sit on a marsh stool. But what is nice is that I can sit right next to the boat, I don't need to park it 100 yards away, load/unload boat, I hate that. I will not build a blind with that cover, but I am going to lightly grass it up.

I've been using some camo burlap to cover my boat for a few years. I didn't sew a bunch together tho, don't have that much of a need. One 12' piece covers the center of my rig back over the motor. I stick the front end up in the weeds or a tree.

Nice work.
Just an FYI- One of the guys on my lease has a relative with a business here in TX that sells burlap in all kinds of widths. From little ribbons to big spools. I could check with him to see what he has if anyone is interested; might be easier than zip tying.
Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?

Looks good. Is that all 12lb of raffia? No, more like 4.5 to 5 lbs. I bought 12 lbs, it was 6 bundles. Barley got into the 3rd bundle.

Have you got it wet yet?
I could lay down and take a nap underneath. Looks like a good layout.

Not that specific cover, but I been using grassed up burlap for years, just nothing that big. Last few years I been using a grassed up 3 foot x 20 foot peice to cover my motor and back end of boat.

I assume you mud that up? It's bright AF. I think it would be fine like it is, especially over time it turns to a darker color, but I probably mist it with some camo paint. Camo paint is spray on mud, much easier.

Keep that off a hot muffler! Yeah it will burn. Good to set the deeks out and set up before you cover it.

I made a ground blind out of burlap that I stapled to three 4' stakes that push into the mud. I used camo spray paint to work in some contrasting colors and it worked great. Threw some camo netting over it to break up the outline and presto! Roll up duck blind.
