I just picked up a sig sg3000 in 308. Would like this rifle to be 80 percent range/bench shooting and 20 percent hunting. I have Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 on my 308 savage carbine that I like, but wanting something better n more magnification for the Sig. I also owns a couple of Leupold and love it. There are a couple of vortex pst 6-24x50 for sale in the classification thread that spark my interest. Should I go with vortex, Leupold and Nikon. Anyone own all three brands that can chime in or recommend another scope brand?

Trijicon Accupoint (like a 5-20x50) or can never go wrong with Steiner (maybe a Steiner 5-25x56)

this rifle to be 80 percent range/bench What does your range and bench shooting consist of? If you are just shooting 100 yards, then scope choices really won't matter much. If you plan to use the rifle and have some fun out at distance, then scope choice and turrets and reticles matter.

Max I shot was 300 yards would like to push it out to 500-600 The least money you can spend to do that is a Nikon without turrets, and with a Mil-dot reticle. If you want to make life easier on yourself, spend more money and pay for a scope with a usable reticle, and good turrets. Burris XTR II is a great value.

Thanks fireman. There was a local guy wanting 900 for his Burris xtr 5-25x50 but that was out of my price range.
