My safe lives in my garage and got about 2 inches of water in it thanks to Harvey. The water came up through the bolt holes and the bottom refractory is toast.
Is there a source for safe liners for DIY or am I better off having it done?
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

It's just sheet rock and upholstery. I'd DIY that, for sure.

Will your insurance cover it?

Check with your insurance; they may replace the whole safe. Also, check with the safe manufacturer. Considering what's happening, they may have a hurricane program.

Don't have flood insurance. Gonna rip out the interior and see what's salvageable. Building a walk-in in our next house so don't want to buy another safe right now.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Check with your insurance; they may replace the whole safe. Also, check with the safe manufacturer. Considering what's happening, they may have a hurricane program. I didn't get water in my safe but it smelled from a house fire. The manufacturer didn't have interior "kits" and said the way they're built it's not feasible to replace the interior... I couldn't understand how that would be the case but, regardless, I got that in writing and added the loss to my claim. I got full reimbursement, kept the money and "cleaned" it myself. Visually it looks fine. On occasion I think I still smell smoke but it may be a mental thing because it's not just with the safe, it's other areas of the house too. Everybody thinks I'm nuts. I know I am but I still believe I smell smoke odor.
